Employers are facing greater challenges and CCS is here for you!

Cathy Perennec McLean, Director of Employment and Training at CCS, provides us with an overview of the programs available to employers.

The current pandemic situation is unprecedented. All  across the country, organizations have been required to adapt, taking cues from local, provincial and federal health authorities. CCS’ Employment and Training Division (Employment Services, English Language Training and Youth Programs) continue to serve businesses and job seekers alike. We are firmly commited to the health and safety of our clients, volunteers, employees, and the businesses in our community who rely on us.

Since the pandemic was declared, we’ve been evaluating policies and processes and adjusting daily. In record time we were able to adapt many of our services to online.  Employment Services (Job Seeker and Employer), English Language Training (LINC and Eh Cafe) and Youth Employment programs are now providing their benefits virtually. This is good news for employers dealing with the impacts of COVID-19 on their workplaces. Here is a snapshot of ways that CCS can support you and help you deal with the added strain on your business.

Wage Subsidy: Right now there are many different cash incentives available for employers wanting to hire and willing to provide initial on the job training, in particular for youth (age 15-30 yrs). Provincially, Employment Ontario offers an hourly wage subsidy through Youth Job Connection and Youth Job Connection Summer programs available through CCS. Federally, Service Canada offers wage subsidy to employers who employ placements from the LIFE for Youth program. All youth candidates through these programs have taken pre-employment employability skills training at CCS. The per hour subsidies range in amount and duration, depending on your needs and the candidates experience. But they all provide manpower and $$$ to participating employers!

Recruitment Support: The team at Jobs Caledon will work with you to help identify the skills and requirements you need for your workforce. We then find you candidates that match, identifying suitable job seekers that meet your requirements for abilities, interests and skills. We go a step further to ensure a successful employment partnership by continuing to support and coach your hires and their supervisors. You also have the option of posting in our free online job bank extending your recruiting reach even further to over 3600 registered job seekers all at no cost to you. Talent Hub offers the potential to extend your reach even further and this benefit is available for eligible positions through CCS via our partnership with Peel Employment Service Providers.

Training: Employability skills Talk to CCS Employment and Training division about the *new* online access to the Skills to Succeed program powered by Accenture. This powerful online portal offers Foundational and Language Skills (Math, Reading, Thinking, ESL, and Financial Literacy), Career Planning and Job Search (Résumés, Interviews and Networking), Professional Skills (Teamwork, Communication, Time Management and Problem Solving), Entrepreneurship and Digital Literacy that can benefit your business and your staff. .

English Language: Students that want to learn English can get connected, practice their language skills in an appropriate level in a supportive class environment via our Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) virtual classes. These same student and any of your staff that want to practice English in a friendly, social setting can attend English Help (Eh) Café held weekly on-line in the evenings and focused on conversational English.
