It's Maple Madness in Caledon!

Cold nights and warm days mean one thing in Ontario – Maple Season. Our partners in Conservation at Credit Valley Conservation along with our wonderful local businesses are bringing memorable maple tastes and experiences to Caledon this spring!

Whether it’s a day trip with the family, a night out with a date or a weekend getaway with friends, there’s something for everyone in Caledon.

Welcome to the Sugar Shack

Looking for a classic sugar shack experience? Maple Syrup in the Park at Terra Cotta Conservation Area is a sweet taste of spring. Tour maple syrup-making demonstrations, learn from Indigenous partners and take a walkthrough Tales on the Trail. Reservations are required, so don’t forget to purchase your pass before you hit the road.

For a more intimate and hands-on experience, join CVC staff for Sap to Syrup: A Maple Syrup Making Experience. Learn how to tap trees, collect sap and use an evaporator to make, bottle and take home your own maple syrup. Reservations are available for morning and afternoon tour times on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Escape for an overnight stay at one of Caledon’s most scenic getaways this spring and experience the Magic of Maple at the Millcroft Inn and Spa. This package includes overnight accommodations, a bottle of Millcroft’s own maple syrup and two maple-flavoured desserts. The Millcroft is going all-out maple this season and has incorporated maple into cocktails, Headwaters Restaurant menu items and even spa treatments! Also available is an opportunity to sign up for a guided walking tour of the Millcroft’s sugar shack and sugarbush, followed by a demonstration of taffy-making!

Maple on the Menu

Maple treats are everywhere this spring - try some in a Bourbon Barrel Maple Latte from the Bike Shop Café in the sweet village of Inglewood, a decadent Maple Hot Chocolate at Coywolf Coffee (also in Inglewood) or a Maple Scone or Maple Latte from Butter & Cup Coffee Co. in Southfields Village!

Looking to incorporate maple into your own menus at home? Plan brunch or supper around one of Heatherlea Farm Shoppe’s house-made sausages – Maple Blueberry, Maple Bacon and Lumber Jacked-up Sausage (Maple, whiskey, cheddar and bacon) are all featured flavours for maple season. You can purchase pure and local maple syrup from Heatherlea, as well as these other fine folks:

DeBoers Market - 15570 Mount Hope Road, Palgrave

Thody's Sugar Shack - 17885 Horseshoe Hill Road, Caledon Village

Pure Caledon Hills Honey - 17895 Heart Lake Road, Caledon Village

Good Neighbours

Check out some of our favourite stops a little further afield in our neighbouring towns!

Also a Credit Valley Conservation park, Orangeville's Island Lake Conservation Area hosts Maple Syrup in the Park - an event similar to Terra Cotta Conservation Area's festivities.

On the outskirts of Erin in Wellington County, Heartwood Farm and Cidery provides two memorable sugarbush experiences on their small-scale maple operation - Secrets of the Sugarbush and the Family Sugarbush and Farmyard Adventure. Check out their website for more info!

Elliott Tree Farm - another Erin neighbour - has a must-see maple experience for people of all ages - check out the maple sugar trail, taste sap along its journey to syrup, learn about the history of maple syrup production and taste some of Elliott's syrup on both classic AND gluten-free pancakes. While you're there, you can also take home a bottle or two of their Erin Fall Fair award-winning syrup for home.
