Settled circa 1820

Alton was settled in the early 1800s on the banks of Shaw's Creek (a tributary of the Credit River) and was a thriving industrial centre for many years. This small village in the northwest corner of Caledon maintains its historic charm and offers plenty to see, experience, eat and drink.
