Alton

Settled circa 1820

Alton was settled in the early 1800s on the banks of Shaw's Creek (a tributary of the Credit River) and was a thriving industrial centre for many years. This small village in the northwest corner of Caledon maintains its historic charm and offers plenty to see, experience, eat and drink.

Wondering about the history of this Village and some of its 19th century buildings? Take a stroll back in time with one of three Self-Guided Heritage Walking Tours: Tour #1, Tour #2, or Tour #3
