Alton

Alton Mill Arts Centre

Settled circa 1820

Alton was settled in the early 1800s on the banks of Shaw's Creek (a tributary of the Credit River) and was a thriving industrial centre.

This small village in the northwest corner of Caledon maintains its historic charm and offers plenty to see (and eat).

The Alton Mill Arts Centre is a restored mill, with galleries, working artists, shops, events, museum and café, we know you'll be back again and again!

Make a weekend of it and stay at the Millcroft Inn and Spa. This gorgeous hotel built in a restored mill on the banks of the river with a fantastic restaurant and spa is a treat for all your senses.

And for delectable baked goods, or a great meal, not to mention live music Friday and Saturdays, Rays 3rd Generation Bistro Bakery is the place to be (tip: don't call the chef Ray, his name is Jason!).

Wondering about the history of this Village and some of the great 19th century buildings? Take a stroll back in time with a 'Self-Guided Heritage Walking Tour.'

If you like golf, have we got a course for you! TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley offers three distinct 18-hole courses designed by acclaimed Canadian architect, Doug Carrick.

The Cataract Inn was a popular restaurant here until 2006. Recently revitalized, this building is once again a Boutique Inn and new Yoga Retreat Centre in the beautiful Caledon Hills.
