10 Sunny Reasons to Explore Caledon: A Summer Bucket List

Embrace the summer sun with this handpicked list of 10 must-try activities in Caledon! We have adventures for every personality, from cider and beer to paddling, golf, horseback riding and much more. Get ready to make the most of this season and cross these excursions off your bucket list!

1. Launch Your Paddle

Thought you couldn’t paddle anywhere in Caledon? Think again! Caledon may be known for our rolling hills and farmland, but we have a little secret for you water lovers. Ken Whillans Conservation Area is our favourite spot to launch a kayak, canoe or paddle board! Bring your own or rent one at the park’s reservation page here. Ken Whillans is also popular for fishing, hiking and birdwatching. A trip here is a must-do activity for your summer bucket list. Note: Rentals are weather dependent and include a lifejacket, safety kit and paddles.

2. Frolic in the Sunflowers

Summer isn’t complete without a trip out to the sunflower fields! Lucky for you, Caledon has three options: Davis Family Farm, Campbell’s Cross Farms and Dixie Orchards. Explore acres of fields in the sun, while making memories, connecting with nature and snapping the perfect pic! Watch out for announcements as these beauties typically bloom in late July.

3. Pick Your Own Strawberries

The season for juicy, red delights has arrived: strawberries! Pick-your-own berries are at two farms in Caledon: Downey’s Strawberry and Apple Farm and Rock Garden Farms. Perfect for family outings, these berry-picking adventures offer a sweet way to spend a sunny day outdoors. Wander through lush rows of strawberries, fill your baskets with nature’s candy, and create memories with every handful. Get ‘em quick before the season ends, usually in late July.

4. Book a Cidery Tour and Tasting

Sip the day away with a cidery tour and tasting at Spirit Tree Estate Cidery. This tour brings you into the orchard, the cellar and offers you a behind-the-scenes look into the cider making process. You will taste local flavours by sampling three of their most popular hard ciders. After the tour, enjoy lunch in the bistro with $5 off your meal. Visiting on a Saturday? Catch live music all summer long. Tip from a local: Pair your tour with a trip to the Cheltenham Badlands to really knock your summer bucket list out of the park!

5. Go on a Beer Crawl

Did someone say beer crawl? Caledon is home to four incredible craft breweries: GoodLot Farmstead, Caledon Hills, Badlands and Sonnen Hill. And let’s just say...ALL of them are a must-visit. With unique offerings at each and food that’s to die for, organizing a beer crawl through our rolling countryside will have you buzzing with good vibes. So grab your crew, map your route, and toast to an epic day. Please remember to drink responsibly and bring a designated driver.

6. Play a Round of Disc Golf

You’ve heard of regular golf, but have you tried this new way to play? Rather than putting into holes, you’re throwing discs into metal baskets while still trying to keep your score down. For a scenic forest setting, try out the ChainLink Disc Golf Course at Albion Hills Conservation Park. Alternatively, play a round at GoodLot’s course on the farm after your beer crawl! It’s the perfect way to enjoy a little friendly competition in the summer sun.

7. Saddle Up for an Adventure on Hooves

The stables are calling! Summer is the perfect season to saddle up and hit the trails, with warm breezes, golden fields, and happy horses ready to roam. There’s no better way to soak up the sunshine and reconnect with nature than on horseback. Whether you're a seasoned rider or trying it for the first time, Rusty Jade Ranch and Teen Ranch offer guided rides through some of Caledon’s most scenic landscapes. Embrace the adventure and enjoy the ride!

8. Tee Off in Our Rolling Hills

We’re still buzzing from hosting the 2025 RBC Canadian Open, so it only makes sense that golf is one of our top 10 activities you have to do in Caledon this summer. Tee off at one of our many golf courses for a day filled with challenging holes, scenic landscapes and laid back vibes. Grab your clubs, soak up the sunshine, and see why Caledon’s golf scene is truly a summer standout.

9. Visit a Farm Shop

Your bucket list in Caledon isn’t complete without a visit to one (or all) of our charming farm shops. You’ll find the freshest Ontario-grown fruits and veggies, along with local honey, eggs, baked goods, pickled treats, and so much more. While you’re there, be sure to say hi to the animals and check if there’s a seasonal event happening...it’s all part of the experience!

10. Cycle Our Country Roads

Summer cycling has arrived and we couldn’t be happier. With winding roads, scenic farms, public art and charming cafes along the way, there’s no shortage of adventure. For cycling routes all over Caledon, check out our Ride With GPS page here. Bonus: for tune ups, servicing, and gear, check out Caledon Hills Cycling and Lynx and Hare Cycles.
