6 Activities to Beat the "November Blues"
November brings shorter days and cooler weather, but Caledon has everything you need to keep your spirits high all month long! From arts, wellness activities, hikes, animals, beer and cozy cafes-let’s explore how you can beat the “November blues.”
Arts
The fall leaves may have drifted down, but Caledon’s vibrant arts scene is here to bring all the colour back! Whether you're in the mood to wander through a gallery or try your hand at a new craft, Caledon’s got something for everyone. Swing by the Alton Mill Arts Centre to spark some inspiration. This creative hub is filled with stunning artwork, fun events, unique shops, and even offers the chance to learn from local artists! Also while in Alton, head down the street towards Paul Morin Gallery. Paul works out of and displays his work in the historic Alton Town Hall, built in the 1800s. A stunning building for stunning pieces of art! Paul’s work includes vibrant landscapes, snowscapes, waterscapes and more. You’ll leave the studio feeling inspired, and maybe with a new piece in hand for your wall at home.
Wellness Activities
As the days get shorter and chillier, a little mind-and-body TLC can go a long way in beating those November blues! Caledon has plenty of wellness spots to help you recharge. At Salt Cave Bolton, unwind with options like an infrared sauna, a float pod, or 50 minutes in the refreshing salt air as you relax in a zero-gravity chair. Craving some outdoor serenity? The Millcroft Inn and Spa offers an outdoor hot springs pool, where hydrotherapy can melt away muscle tension and boost your energy levels. Or, for a classic spa day, Victorian Garden Spa is the place to go. With a range of services from mani-pedis to massages and facials, there’s something here for everyone’s needs and budget!
Hikes and Outdoor Fun
Caledon might be known for its stunning fall colours, but there's still tons to explore once we hit “stick season.” As the chill settles in, throw on some layers and head to Albion Hills Conservation Park for all kinds of outdoor fun. Feeling competitive? Give disc golf a try and see if you can claim victory among friends! Counting down to winter? While we can’t predict the first snowfall, if November brings us flurries, you can rent snowshoes right at Albion Hills. Another gem for adventures is Forks of the Credit Provincial Park. While this park is busy in the peak of fall, it quiets down during off-season. Enjoy trails offering incredible lookouts, including a waterfall view from the Dominion Trail.
Animal Experiences
Dreary days can most definitely be fixed with a few snuggly and fluffy animals! Alright, maybe all the farm animals in Caledon aren’t fluffy, but they do promise to bring a smile to your face. After all, can you really visit Caledon without stopping in at a farm? We think not! Located in the village of Palgrave, let us introduce you to Gir Farms. This cow farm educates visitors on the importance of cows and bulls. You can book a farm visit, hand feed the cows or book a special cow cuddling experience. Another common animal you’ll find in Caledon is horses. Learn the ropes of ranch life by partaking in a trail ride at Rusty Jade Ranch or Teen Ranch. This experience connects you with nature, animals and yourself.
Cozy Cafes
Why not settle in for a cozy afternoon with a warm drink and good company? Some of our favorite coffee spots in Caledon make the perfect escape. For a fun vibe, Coywolf Coffee is a great choice, with seasonal drinks, board games, and comfy seating. Chasing that Caledon farm life? Take a seat at Cordoba Coffee, Caledon’s newest cafe nestled in the heart of Campbell’s Cross Farms. This cafe is the perfect pick if you’re looking to soak in some nature and have a slow paced day. Over on the north side of Town, we love Gather Cafe for a spot to read. Grab a famous wood fired pizza and cozy up by the fire with your favourite book.
Breweries and Cideries
When the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, there’s no better way to lift your spirits than with a local pint or cider in hand. Luckily, Caledon is home to four unique breweries and one charming cidery, each offering a cozy escape from the cold. While patio season may be behind us, these spots have inviting barns, taprooms, and beer halls perfect for winter hangouts. With game nights, live music, and themed events like Trivia Nights, they’re the perfect cure for those November blues.
