Belfountain Estates

Take a retreat out to the serene Belfountain Estates, nestled in the Niagara Escarpment. This carbon sink farm focuses on sustainable practices throughout their acres of beauty. Experience the animals alongside rows of lavender and vineyards, surrounded by lush forest. Some of the animals you will see at Belfountain Estates include cows, ducks, chickens, sheep and pigs. Gir Farms 

Gir Farms is the first cow cuddling farm in Ontario! An experience at Gir Farms is unlike no other. Learn about the importance of gir cows and how the farm focuses on health, mental health and ethical practices. When visiting Gir Farms, you have the option to book a regular visit, visit and feed, or cow cuddling. During cow cuddling, experience the magic of these calm cattle companions-lowering your stress levels and allowing you to focus on mindfulness. Visits are by appointment only

Rusty Jade Ranch 

If you’re looking for the ultimate ranching experience, Rusty Jade is the best place to end up. Situated in the rolling hills of Palgrave, this ranch is a peaceful retreat waiting for you. Saddle up and take the reins out on a guided trail ride through the stunning Palgrave Forest and Wildlife Area. You’ll get to connect with these animals, appreciate nature and bond with your group. Downey’s Farm 

Searching for the ultimate family-friendly escape? Downey’s Farm is the best place to let your kids run around, play games and see the farm animals. Downey’s is open seasonally during summer, fall, Christmas and Easter time. Inside the gates of the Farmyard Play Area awaits a learning centre, games, wagon rides, and the “Kritter Korral.” At the Kritter Korral you’ll meet chickens, goats, sheep, alpaca, donkey, cows and rabbits. Heatherlea Farm Shoppe 

Heatherlea Farm Shoppe is known for their high quality grass-fed meats and other snacks using clean ingredients and local products. With a cafe in the shop and beautiful patio, it’s the perfect place to have a bite to eat or grab your farm fresh dinner essentials. If you’ve read this far, you may be asking where are the animals? In the spring and summer, you can take pleasure in seeing the cows roaming freely in the field right next to the shop. Grab a drink, enjoy the sun and watch some cows...a true rural adventure.

GoodLot Farm and Farmstead Brewing Co

Chickens and beer? Trust us…it’s a vibe. Take a trip out to GoodLot Farm and Farmstead Brewing Co this summer. This organic hop farm and solar-powered brewery includes a beer garden, food trucks, themed game nights, live music, fire pits, disc golf, and uh yes..the chickens. Described by GoodLot as “happy chickens strutting around doing their thing,” they’ll walk right under your table and say hello as you enjoy your food and cold brews.
