Late summer is upon us, and the iconic summer sunflower fields are blooming across Caledon. Home to oodles of farms both big and small, it is no surprise that some hold the title of most gorgeous (and largest) Sunflower fields in Ontario. Add one or all of these family-run businesses to your travel list this August!

First to bloom is the Davis Family Farm- Ontario’s largest sunflower field. This farm has been in the Davis family for four generations, so it’s easy to say that this family knows their sunflowers. The Davis Family Farms Sunflower Festival is on now until August 18^th.This festival has lots of opportunities for guests to get into the fields: sunrise and sunset Yoga in the fields, 3km of walking trails amongst the flowers, loads of photo props and select dates for luxury picnics on the farm provided by Picnics in the 6ix. Check out the vendors available in the farm market, including Main Street Ice Cream, June and Rose Candle Co. and Crystal View Greenhouse. Davis Family Farm is a Caledon must-see, so come check it out for yourself!

Blooming around the same time as the Davis’, Campbell’s Cross Farms is located down the road from the village of Inglewood. This berry-turned-sunflower farm, run by the young Gallo family, offers many activities during their long sunflower bloom from approximately July 28^thto August 31^st. At Campbell’s Cross Farm, guests can take in a picnic, do yoga and go on meditation walks amongst the flowers. Looking for a taste ofthe arts in the sea of yellow flowers? Campbell’s Cross Farm offers tickets to Paint Nights in the fields for both adults and kids. Author book readings, cut-your-own sunflowers and floral workshops and more await – and don’t forget a visit to their newly-opened farm store.

Rounding out the season and openingaround August 19^th is Dixie Orchards. Best known for their apple orchards, pumpkin patches and hazelnut picking in the fall, owners Paul and Lynnette start their fall season early with multiple seas of sunflowers. Say hello to the farm animals, shop the quaint porch farm shop and hop aboard a wagon ride to the adorable photo props – there’s something for everyone here. Be sure to check each farm's website for info about whether pets are permitted to join!

Though each one is special in its own right, all of Caledon’s sunflower farms tend to agree on a few cardinal rules for visiting the beautiful fields. Hay, old barns, and fire don’t mix - no vaping or smoking is permitted at any farm property. Please leave the drones at home, only pick where permitted, stay safe and stay off farm equipment, andpack out your trash. Experience the beauty that grows in Caledon soil - seas of yellow await just down our country roads.
