Sunflower Season is in the Fields

Late summer is upon us, and the iconic summer sunflower fields are soon blooming across Caledon. Home to oodles of farms both big and small, it is no surprise that some hold the title of most gorgeous (and largest) Sunflower fields in Ontario. Add one or all of these family-run businesses to your travel list this July and August!

Davis Family Farm

First to bloom is the Davis Family Farm- Ontario’s largest sunflower field. This farm has been in the Davis family for four generations, so it’s easy to say that this family knows their sunflowers. The Davis Family Farms Sunflower Festival is on from July 26th until August 10th. This festival has lots of opportunities for guests to get into the fields: sunset Yoga in the fields, 3km of walking trails amongst the flowers, loads of photo props, Sip and Paint nights and the Caledon Music Festival. Check out the vendors available in the farm market, including Main Street Ice Cream, and Crystal View Greenhouse. Pop-up markets by The Mom Market will also run on July 26th, August 2nd and August 9th. Davis Family Farm is a Caledon must-see, so come check it out for yourself!

Campbell's Cross Farms

Blooming around the same time as the Davis’, Campbell’s Cross Farms is located down the road from the village of Inglewood. This berry-turned-sunflower farm, run by the young Gallo family, offers many activities during their long sunflower bloom from approximately July 30th to September 2nd. At Campbell’s Cross Farm, guests can book an outdoor luxury picnic, do yoga and go on meditation walks amongst the flowers. Looking for a taste of the arts in the sea of yellow flowers? Campbell’s Cross Farm offers tickets to Paint Nights in the fields for both adults and kids. Markets, cut-your-own sunflowers, floral workshops and more await! New in 2025, Cordoba Coffee opened their doors on the property of Campbell's Cross. Enjoy gourmet flavoured coffee and freshly roasted beans in every cup! Also new for this year, the farm will be the host venue of the Sunflower Garden Festival taking place on August 23rd. There's no shortage of activities happening when you plan a visit to Campbell's Cross Farms.

Dixie Orchards

Rounding out the season and opening around August 15th is Dixie Orchards. Best known for their apple orchards, pumpkin patches and hazelnut picking in the fall, owners Paul and Lynnette start their fall season early with multiple seas of sunflowers. Say hello to the farm animals, shop the quaint porch farm shop and hop aboard a wagon ride to the adorable photo props – there’s something for everyone here. Be sure to check each farm's website for info about whether pets are permitted to join!

Though each one is special in its own right, all of Caledon’s sunflower farms tend to agree on a few cardinal rules for visiting the beautiful fields. Hay, old barns, and fire don’t mix - no vaping or smoking is permitted at any farm property. Please leave the drones at home, only pick where permitted, stay safe and stay off farm equipment, and pack out your trash. Experience the beauty that grows in Caledon soil - seas of yellow await just down our country roads.
